Eight bad habits of your co-workers

There are many serious workplace issues that impact productivity, morale, the general wellbeing of each worker, and the overall profitability of a company. And then there are those issues that are not very serious in nature, but they can still cause problems and stress. Don’t get caught committing one of the following:{{more}}

1. Don’t yell across the office or at co-workers. It’s disruptive, distracting, and inappropriate.

2. Eavesdropping is never acceptable. You’re admitting by your actions that you’re invading someone else’s privacy and usually the information being discussed doesn’t directly concern you.

3. Promptly return borrowed items. Borrowing means you are allowed temporary use of an item. Return the item and obtain your own.

4. Notify the appropriate person if you used the last item from the supply closet. Minimize undue stress caused by the lack of small items like fax toner, ink cartridges, writing pads, and other supplies.

5. Respect individual property. Do not rummage through desks or rearrange absent employees’ spaces. It’s an invasion of their space and utterly disrespectful.

6. Keep your space organized. Keep files and databases tidy and orderly, as this will help co-workers to step in on your behalf in an emergency.

7. Avoid reading over other people’s shoulders. This is an invasion of personal space.

8. Don’t pressure co-workers to buy your child’s school candy, raffle tickets, etc. Yes, your child wants to win the top sales prize, but co-workers can feel depleted with solicitations throughout the year. Let the buying be voluntary.
