Thank you, SVG, for supporting Karen Hinds’ Phenomenal Woman Conference

The third annual Karen Hinds’ Phenomenal Conference just wrapped, and I am extremely proud and thrilled with the impact of our work. We had a world class line-up of presenters, who delivered top-notch programmes for our teens and adults.{{more}} I thank Dr Ken Onu, Lisa Cummins from Barbados, Carita Dee from Barbados, social media expert Lena West from New York, Rachael Punnett from Spirit of the Valley Yoga Centre right here in SVG, Laverne Gibson-Velox, Vanburn Harry from Ying Yang Martial Arts and Fitness Centre, and Father Kari Marcelle, as well as our local success panel, Sharleen Greaves, Shonell Delplesche, Jeranda Davis and Beth Simmons-Ludicke.

Each year we feature a senior citizen who shares their wisdom with the audience, and this year we thank Mrs Rhona Richardson of Questelles, who is 81 years young.

To the teens and women who attended and to those who have already seen a change in their lives, keep going – this is only just the beginning. To those of you who wished you had attended, mark the dates April 8-9, 2016.

We asked the almost 300 teens in attendance to go back to their communities to start a project that will positively affect their community. We cannot wait to share those developments with you in the near future. We will be following up with the different groups in the coming months.

We truly have the very best planning team and an army of volunteers — 25 teen volunteers on Friday and 40 adult volunteers on Saturday. They all made it look effortless. Thank you.

To our sponsors, who truly are the reason these programmes are possible, I thank you for trusting us with your brand and supporting the development of women and girls in the region. Digicel, Searchlight, Grenadine House, Fanfare, Organization of American States, Vitamalt, Acute Cosmetics, Healthy Lifestyles, Grenadine Partnership Fund, Mountain Top Springs Limited, Coreas Hazells, Ikater Foods, IKTV, Hillside Catering. Thanks to our exhibitors, Bijou Real Estate, Altcos Health, Paradise Malone Handbags, and The Onyx Spa.

We thank South East Development Incorporated Steel Orchestra for sharing a sneak peek of their Hearts of Steel concert during lunch and encourage the general public to attend their live performance at the Community College on April 25 and 26.

A special thanks to the Russell family for working with us throughout the months prior to the conference, as they performed various improvements on the property, including the installation of new restrooms. We also recognize Samantha Garraway for sharing her talent and giving us a lovely stage setting. Thanks to the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force for ensuring a safe environment. Thanks to our team of photographers, videographers, sound engineers and all the technical people behind the scenes.

I feel tremendously blessed to be able to share my expertise with my home island. If you missed it this year, make sure you are ready for April 8-9, 2016.
