National Nine Mornings Committee to produce magazine

This year, the National Nine Mornings Committee will produce a commemorative magazine in an effort to capture and document the essence of the Nine Mornings Festival.

The magazine is being produced in collaboration with Interactive Media Limited (IML), publishers of the SEARCHLIGHT newspaper.

Chairman of the National Nine Mornings Committee Michael Peters on Monday described the Nine Mornings festival as the number one festival, by geographic distribution, in the country and the only festival that attracts over 10,000 persons.

He revealed that this year’s festival is significant as it marks the 20th year since the reorganisation and development of the festival.

Peters said that in 1999, Bassy Alexander, Joel Providence, Lennox Bowman and himself got together and formed the National Nine Mornings Committee and brought the festival back to life and the magazine is being done in celebration of this.

The magazine is expected to be released in mid-November and Peters said they will print 2000 copies while distribution will be local, regional and international.

The Chairman said he is hoping that the magazine will help promote the festival and encourage Vincentians abroad who have never experienced the festival, to come home for a taste of what remains a unique cultural touristic curiosity.

Peters also revealed that the 2018 festival will be launched on December 2 with a street parade, community concert and the lighting of Heritage Square.

He said the Committee is seeking ways to improve the festival and will be working with the St Vincent Electricity Services (VINLEC) to improve the lighting up of Kingstown.

The Committee will also be working along with Invest SVG and the St Vincent and the Grenadines Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SVGCIC) to add even more value to the festival.
