Our time comes to a close

My Vincy family, I would like to thank you for allowing me to share Sugar Matters with you over the past six plus years (yes, it was that long!). When I started writing, I did not know if anyone would ever read it. But I found out soon enough that you did read it, and thought about it.{{more}} You looked things up and had questions for me—I loved that! When I returned home during our diabetes mission, I found that many of you read the column every week, and I can’t tell you how happy that made me.

Most of you know that I am a Vincy from the heart on out. My grandparents and mother were all Vincentian. I went to primary and secondary school in SVG, then left for college here in the US, where I have lived since 1992. But my heart is still all Vincy. I had been trying to find a way to serve my original home, a way to give back from so far away, when the SEARCHLIGHT so graciously agreed to let me pen this article every week. I have felt blessed to be allowed to serve you in this way.

Thank you for your attention, your questions, and your devotion to this column for so many years. I encourage you to send questions to the SEARCHLIGHT, and they can send them on to me. I am still here! And I will be sure to respond.
