Just a blink away
Ah, our next Mission trip is just a blink away! Our last few preparations are in the works for this return trip of the Patsy Douglas Foundation Diabetes Medical Mission.
AnnMarie Lee Wilkins, our fearless leader and founder of the Foundation, will arrive ahead of the rest of the team in order to make preparations. The mission itself will begin on Monday, March 12 and run through the week.{{more}}
As in prior years, we will visit several clinics, including Georgetown, Mespo, Layou and Bequia. Unlike last year, we will not be having a health fair this year, but plan to do so next year.
We encourage you all to come out to the clinic, where you normally seek your diabetes care. We would love to see you! We will be performing screens for neuropathy, general examinations and performing some other blood tests when possible. As before, our specialists will also be doing some specific examinations for those with amputations. Nutrition and basic Diabetes education teaching will be done at all clinics.
We welcome questions! Our mission is to augment the excellent care you receive from your own local medical teams who are with you all year round. They perform the lionâs share of supporting you through your healthcare. We hope to add to what they have already done for you.
