Ambris loses CWI white-ball contract

Vincentian Sunil Ambris is among several players who have lost their white ball contract, Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced.

Ambris, 28, a right-handed batsman, has not performed in his most recent outings for the regional side in One-Day Internationals.

On his tour of Bangladesh earlier this year, Ambris, who was the team’s vice- captain, had scores of 7, 6 and 13.
Since making his ODI debut back in 2017, Ambris has played 16 matches, scoring a total of 473, with one century and two half centuries. He has an average of 36.38.

Apart from Ambris, Sheldon Cottrell, Shimron Hetmyer, Brandon King, Keemo Paul, Rovman Powell, Romario Shepherd and Oshane Thomas, have suffered the same fate.

Losing their Test contracts are Shamarh Brooks and Shane Dowrich, while Roston Chase has lost out on all formats.
On the other hand, those who have gained contracts are Jason Holder, who is contracted in all formats – Tests, ODI and T/20s, All-format contracts list reads: Jason Holder, Kraigg Brathwaite, Jermaine Blackwood, Nkrumah Bonner, Rahkeem Cornwall, Joshua Da Silva, Shannon Gabriel, Kyle Mayers and Kemar Roach.

Gaining white ball contracts are Kieron Pollard, Fabien Allen, Darren Bravo, Shai Hope, Akeal Hosein, Evin Lewis, Alzarri Joseph, Nicholas Pooran and Hayden Walsh Jr.

Bonner, Da Silva, Mayers and Hosein, are first-timers to receive contracts.

However, all players who are no longer on International retainer contracts are offered an A* grade Regional Franchise Contract for the following year.

Following the announcement of International Retainer Contracts, the six Regional Franchises will now complete the process of awarding their 15 contracts, with the Professional Franchise Player Draft due to take place on Tuesday, May 25.
