Red Force too hot in Super-50 Cup

The Trinidad and Tobago Red Force made an exclamation mark to remain unbeaten from their seven matches, when they turned on a ruthless performance over the Guyana Jaguars last Saturday night at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in the final of the CG Insurance Super-50 Cup.

The Red Force made good of the offer to bat by the Guyana Jaguars, by posting 362 for 5 from their 50 overs.

Lendl Simmons was again masterful, as he lashed 146. Simmons at the top of the order, slammed 15 fours and 7 sixes. He and Evin Lewis put on 121 for the first wicket, and he and Darren Bravo together tallied 100 for the second. Lewis smoked 57 and Bravo, 47.

There was no easing up on the Jaguars’ bowling, as Nicholas Pooran stroked 39, Denesh Ramdin, 27 and Kieron Pollard, 23.

Another 22 extras added salt in the wounds of the Jaguars’ efforts in the field. Romario Shepherd took 2 for 105.

The Red Force bowlers emulated their batsmen to slice through the Jaguars’ batting, dismissing them for 210 in 43.5 overs, as Red Force won by 152 runs.

Only Raymon Reifer with 97 not out showed any teeth for an otherwise tame batting show by the Guyanese outfit. Reifer crafted 7 fours and 3 sixes. Ravi Rampaul scalped 4 for 53, Jayden Seales, 3 for 40 and Anderson Phillip, 2 for 40.

Lendl Simmons was named player of the final, as Trinidad and Tobago copped their 13th regional One-Day title and the holder of the Clive Lloyd trophy.

Among the other individual awards, Red Force’s Jason Mohammed collected the Sir Richie Richardson award for scoring the most runs (327).

Taking the Sir Curtly Ambrose award for the most wickets, was Gudakesh Motie of the Guyana Jaguars, who scalped 17 wickets during the tournament.

Andre Mc Carthy of the Jamaica Scorpions, earned the Collis King award, as the best allrounder. Mc Carthy tallied 191 runs and took 8 wickets.

Shimron Hetymer got the Gus Logie award, as the best fielder, taking the most catches (7).

And, Red Force’s Denesh Ramdin and Emmanuel Stewart of the Windward Islands Volcanoes were joint best wicketkeepers. They both shared the Jeffery Dujon award, as they were tied on 9 dismissals each.
