Sunil Ambris named WI ODI vice- captain

Vincentian Sunil Ambris has been named the West Indies’ vice-captain for the three-match One-Day International Series versus Bangladesh in Bangladesh.

The right-handed Ambris, 27, has appeared in 13 ODIs for the West Indies, scoring 447 runs at an average of 44.70. His highest score is 148. Added to his lone century, he has two half centuries.

Ambris’ last ODI innings was his 60 versus Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, in February last year.

He made his ODI in 2017 against England in England, making 38 not out.

Ambris heads to Bangladesh with a team minus a number of first choices who have opted out of the tour because of the fears surrounding the coronavirus. In the absence of regular captain Kieron Pollard, fellow Trinidadian Jason Mohammed will take charge of the regional outfit.

Also making up the ODI team are Nkrumah Bonner, Joshua Da Silva, Jahmar Hamilton, Chemar Holder, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Kyle Mayers, Andre McCarthy, Kjorn Ottley, Rovman Powell, Raymon Reifer, Romario Shepherd and Hayden Walsh Jr. The ODI series bowls off in Dhaka on January 20.
