TASVG deletes NACAC Chatoyer 10K from 2020 list

With no overseas participation forthcoming, Team Athletics SVG has been forced to cancel this Sunday’s planned North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC) Chatoyer Endurance 10K road race.

The race, which has as its main draw card the international bracket, and with travel restrictions in place in light of the coronavirus pandemic, there was no other option but to pull the plug on Sunday’s event.

The Chatoyer Endurance 10K, labelled the World’s Most Challenging 10K, was set for the hilly terrain of North Leeward. The race begins down hill from Gordon Yard, then into Cumberland, before mounting the hilly comunities of Coulls Hill and Troumaca.

From there, athletes enter Rose Bank, before climbing the incline of Petit Bordel to run home to the finish line at the Sharpes Playing Field.

The cancellation of this year’s event means that Vincentian Linda Mc Dowall will have to wait another year to make it five-in-a row in the international category.

Mc Dowall had straight titles in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Her winning time last year was 50 minutes 11.70 seconds.

Copping the male title in 2019 was first time entrant Alex Ekesa of Kenya, whose time was 37 minutes 43.20 seconds.
