Soccerama kicks off Canouan football league

A soccerama competition among the five participating teams kicked off the 2020 Canouan football league, last Sunday at the Fisheries Sporting Complex.

Matches in the soccerama were of 15 minutes duration. Points were awarded for goals scored, fouls, throw-ns, offside as well as corner kicks, while there were deductions for yellow cards and red cards.

At the end, it was Yard Boyz, which emerged as champions, defeating Sandy Lane Yacht Club Celtic Boyz, 37-22 in the final. Also contesting the soccerama were Canouan United and Mexican Family One and Two.

In the parade of teams, which preceded the soccerama, Sandy Lane Yacht Club Celtic Boyz, won both the March Past and the best dressed team on show.

The league, which has the blessings of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation, will see matches played on Saturdays and Sundays, also at the Fisheries Sporting Complex.
