The Up in the Hole team and their supporters left the Sharpes Playing Field last Sunday, a joyous bunch, after lifting the title of the inaugural Mona Academy Sharpes Inter-Village nine -a -side football competition.
Up in the Hole, though, had to do it the hard way, via the penalty route, but prevailed 3-2 over Hollywood.
Both teams were level at regulation time, 0-0.
For winning the title, Up in the Hole collected the winner’s trophy and $1,000, while Hollywood got $500 and a trophy. Placing third was Kingstown Park.
En route to the final, Up in the Hole saw off Kingstown Park 4-0 in one semi-final, while in the other Hollywood beat Lower Sharpes 3-2 on penalties, after they drew 1-1 in the regulation period.
Kingstown Park were adjudged the most disciplined team, while Hollywood’s Alonzo Bute, scored the most goals (five).
Copping the award for best goalkeeper was Up in the Hole’s Carl Raguette.
The other two teams which completed the competition, were Rocks and Plan.
