Saints march off  in national T/20 cricket

Guardian General Saints had double wins last weekend, when the SVGCA Inc. Neil Williams T/20 cricket competition bowled off.

Saints, in their first encounter sneaked past Victors One by a mere two runs at Arnos Vale One on Saturday.

In a match reduced to 15 overs per team, Saints got to 102 for 7 from their allotment. Jeremy Layne scored 34 and Sunil Ambris, 28.

Bowling for Victors One, Luke Wilson took 3 for 21 and Solomon Bascombe, 2 for 17.

Victors One’s response halted at 100 for 6 from their 15 overs. Miles Bascombe stroked 40, while for Saints’ Jeremy Layne had 2 for 14 and Jeremy Haywood, 2 for 19.

However, Saints’ second win on Sunday at the same venue was more impressive, as they humbled Police One by 93 runs.

Saints posted 171 for 9 from their 20 overs. Sunil Ambris scored 54. Gerald Gould picked off 3 for 26.

Danson Andrews, with a score of 39, was Police One’s only bright spark with the bat, as the lawmen were dismissed for 78 in 14 overs. Rayan Williams scalped 3 for 24, for Saints.

Police One though had taken care of Vee Jays Roof Top and Bar North Windward by 19 runs on Saturday at the Park Hill Playing Field.

Police One scored 138 for 9 from their 20 overs, with Gosnel Cupid hitting 47.

For North Windward, O’ Neil Thomas grabbed 3 for 15.

In response, North Windward scored 120 all out from 19.2 overs. Kimali Williams took 3 for 22, Vertil Davis, 2 for 21 and Gerald Gould, 2 for 28.
