Freeland teams win in Marriaqua Village Cup

The two Freeland teams contesting the Village Ram/ Memorial Funeral Home Marriaqua Village Cup, were both victorious in the latest set of matches played at the Cane End Playing Field.

Country Meet Town Freeland Two recorded a 41-run win over Fairbaine.

Freeland Two, propelled by Davian Barnum’s 50 and Deroy Strough’s 35, were dismissed for 172 from 19 overs. Rokeem Roberts was Fairbaine’s most successful bowler, taking 4 for 22 and Glenson Guy had 2 for 16.

Fairbaine’s response was 131 for 8 from their 20 overs. Kentish Phillips hit 43, while Javid Cordice and Nickie Antoine scored 24 each.

Kemron Williams took 2 for 5 and Davian Barnum, 2 for 12.

Then, Country Meet Town Freeland One followed suit with a 38-run trumping over Enhams.

Freeland One scored 147 for 6 from 20 overs. Javed Harry scored 32 and Denson Hoyte, 27.

For Enhams, Tarik Creese picked off 3 for 15.

Enhams’ response stopped at 109 for 7 from their 20 overs.

On Saturday, rain had the say in the Champion of Champions competition.

Limited play was possible in the encounter between Owia and Sion Hill Tallawahs.

Tallwahs reached 205 for 3 from 18 overs. Shamic Roberts scored 88 not out and Dilanzo Lavia, 31. Emron Lorraine took 2 for 30, before rain stopped play.

And, there was no play between Owia and Challengers.

All four teams shared the points.
