Tallawahs overcome Hard Hitters in OTR clash
Sion Hill Tallawahs beat Hard Hitters by 16 runs in a clash of teams from Over The River (OTR) on Saturday at the Cane End Playing Field in the Marriaqua Champion of Champions softball cricket competition.
Tallawahs made 92 all out, with Delorn Lavia the topscorer with 17. For Hard Hitters, Kerwin Williams had 3 for 16, Anthonio Barker, 2 for 7 and Shawn Williams, 2 for 19.
Hard Hitters were dismissed for 76.
Then on Sunday, Belair Sunset Strikers overcame Glen United by 57 runs.
Ovando O’ Brien lashed 37 and Renrick Williams, 36, to see Sunset Strikers to 162 all out from 20 overs. Glen United most successful bowler, taking 3 for 28.
Glen United were left short, as they were dismissed for 105 in 15.4 overs. Marcus Hackshaw scored 26.
For Belair Sunset Strikers, Jabarri Cunningham took 3 for 20 and Travis Cumberbatch, 3 for 21.
Meanwhile, in the Village Ram / Memorial Funeral Home Marriaqua Village Cup, Riley outplayed Yambou by 70 runs.
Riley posted 150 for 8 from 17.4 overs, Ovando O’ Brien hit 50 and Delon Williams, 39.
Bowling for Yambou, Tex Franklyn took 3 for 36, Keron Matthews, 2 for 11 and Wendell Corridon, 2 for 25.
Yambou in response, scored 80 all out in 15.5 overs. Norlan Williams scalped 4 for 8 and Ovando O’Brien, 2 for 14.
Ovando O’ Brien was named the weekend’s player of the Marriaqua Village Cup and the Champion of Champions.
