Cricket club’s launch reset to Saturday

The Julius Anthony Cricket Club, along with the club’s youth academy and the fitness academy, which was to have its official launch last Saturday, at the Cumberland Playing Field, has been rescheduled to this Saturday, August 1.

The postponement was occasioned by the possible threat from Tropical Storm Gonzalo.

As it was intended for last Saturday, the official ceremony gets going at 1 p.m., and will hear motivational speeches from former natioanal football captain and manager, and current coach and CONCACAF instructor Theon Gordon, as well as former SVG, Windwards and West Indies fastbowler Ian Allen.

Manager of the National Sports Council, and former SVG, Windwards, Combined Campuses and Colleges and West Indies T/20 player Miles Bascombe will deliver the feature address.

Remarks will also come from president of the club Elron Lewis, along with parliametary representative for North Leeward Roland Matthews and Speaker of the House of Assembly and the ULP’s candidate for North Leeward Carlos James.

The club is named after Julius Anthony, who was a stalwart sports administrator in North Leeward.
