Siblings trump titles at CGM Gallagher invitational swim championships

TWO BROTHER and sister combinations pouched titles at the 2020 CGM Gallagher invitational swimming championships, which concluded last Sunday at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre (SAC).

The Leonard siblings Eltonique and Eltonte, were winners, so too were Mya De Freitas and her elder brother Aaron.

Eltonique won the 9-10 female title, while Eltonte won the male 13-14.

Meanwhile, Mya took the double titles, winning the female 13-14 age group and the 13 and over female sprint champion trophy, with Aaron being crowned the male 13 and over sprint champion.

Both sets of siblings represented Black Sands Swim Squad at the championships.

There were other age group winners and sprint champions declared.

Kione De Shong of Black Sands was the double winner in the male 8 and under, as he took the individual title and was the sprint champion.

Emulating De Shong was Kaija Eastmond of Pirates Swim Club of Barbados, who did the double as well, in the female 8 and under.

Hazen Dabriel of Blue Marlins won the male 9-10 age group, with Black Sands’ Jamie Joachim taking the female 11-12.

Black Sands’ Brandon George claimed the male 11-12 title and was the 9-12 male sprint champion.

Claiming the male 15

and over title was Dajenel Williams of Sailfish Swim Club of Grenada, with Blue Marlins’ Jaynika Williams winning the female 15 and over title.

And, Zariel Nelson of Blue Marlins was the female 9-12 sprint champion. Nelson represented Blue Marlins’ Swim Club.

Black Sands were the winners of the championships, which also saw the Rising Stars Swim Club of Bequia represented.
