Medical student bosses SVGCC invitational basketball awards

Shazaad Khan of Medical Schools Combined, was named MVP of the final and the tournament’s overall MVP, when the 2020 QuickCash Corp.

SVG Community College invitational Basketball tournament closed off last Friday at the Arnos Vale Netball Complex.

Khan’s efforts ensured his team claim the title, as they played unbeaten.

He was pivotal in last Friday’s final versus Blue Chip Basketball Academy when Medical Schools Combined won 31-30, in nervy last seconds.

This, after both outfits were locked 11-11 at the end of the first quarter, with the Medical Schools Combined taking a 15-11 lead at the half-way mark.

The scores were level 21- 21 at the end of the third quarter, with the Medical Schools Combined trumping by the slimmest of margins at the sound of the final buzzer.

Joining Khan as the individual MVPs for their teams were Maxroy Dublin – RSVG Police Youth Club; Hanson Walker – Division of Teachers Education; Amenzia Johnny – Division of Technical and Vocational Education and Maxie Dublin – Division of Arts, Science and General Studies.

And, Reon Ollivierre of the BlueChip Basketball Academy was adjudged the best defensive player of the tournament.
