Calliaqua New Year’s Day small goal title stays home

Calliaqua A beat Glen on sudden death penalty kicks to win the Calliaqua New Year’s Day four-a-side small goal football competition at the Culture Pot Square in Calliaqua.

Both teams had played to a goal less draw in regulation time, which necessitated the penalty kicks.

Apart from the bragging rights, Calliaqua A got the first plAce trophy, along with beverages and complimentary tickets to an event held on that same day.

It was sweet revenge for Calliaqua A, which was beaten by Glen 2-0 in the preliminary round. Similarly, it was the Calliaqua A outfit, which in the 2019 edition, was beaten by Glen in the final.

In 2019, Calliaqua A played under the Lance United banner.

The other competing teams in the 2020 version were Choppins and Calliaqua B.
