Breakaway masters football tournament ends

After four months of constant action, the 2019 Hairoun Breakaway masters organisation’s football tournament ended last Saturday at the Grammar School Playing Field.

Concluding the ninth edition was the league final of the firms’ division, which saw Toni Stores Combine ending on a high.

The new title holders beat Agriculture Input Warehouse Fisherfolks 4-2 on penalties.

Both teams went toe to toe in regulation, as they ended two goals apiece.

Toni Stores Combined goals came from Desborn Lavia and Emaul Lyscott, while Kendall Douglas and Shane Samuel were on the score sheet for Fisherfolks.

Toni Stores earned $1,500 and Fisherfolks got $1,000, while third place RSVG Police gained $700.

Toni Stores joined other league winners in System Three One, who took the Under-16 title, with another System Three outfit, winning the Under-19 title.

The other league winner was the National Under-17 team, which took the female division.

Je Belle won the firms/ Under-19 knock-out title and System Three One double-up, by champing the Under-16 division’s knock-out.

The top goal-scorers were Daniel Patrick in the firms division, Stephen Pierre in the Under-16 division, Jahseem James, Under-19 and Luzanne Edwards, female division.

Taking the goalkeeper awards were Jamal Duncan – firms division, Jonathan Samuel – Under-16, Zuriel Browne – Under- 19 and Marsha Marshall – female division.

The MVPs were Daniel Patrick in the firms division, with Cordel Hector the recipient in the Under-16 division, Jerron Dopwell – Under-19 and Leona Barrow – female division.

Meanwhile, Joshua John was rewarded for being the youngest participant in the tournament.

And, copping the most disciplined team awards were Guardsman in the firms division, Volcanoes Two – Under-16, System Three – Under-19 and Chelsea, in the female division.
