SVG makes good showing at St Lucia Squash challenge

St Vincent’s top male and female squash players Jason Doyle, Jules Snagg, Kevin Bailey and Amber Glasgow joined forces with seven top national St Lucian players to compete in the Fire versus Ice Squash Challenge hosted at Rodney Bay, St Lucia, recently.

The challenge was held to revive and boost the current squash programme in St Lucia, as well as foster relations both regionally and internationally among the participants.

The Vincentian players held the top ranked positions in the team face-off against the best players from the Barrie Squash Club in Ontario, Canada.

Going true to rank, Jason Doyle, as the No.1 seed, won all his matches.

Likewise, Bailey emerged victorious in all his matches, without dropping a single game.

Meanwhile, No.2 seed, Snagg, was equally successful, dominating his matches, but dropped a single game in the final match.

And, Glasgow, the lone female of the competition, shattered some male pride, securing vital points and ensuring that St Vincent and the Grenadines returned with the Challenge Cup title.

The Vincentian players are busy preparing for their next tournament, the SVG General Sales and Services Squash Open to be held early in 2020 at the National Lotteries Squash Courts, Paul’s Avenue.
