Special Olympics SVG swim coach receives training

Special Olympics Coach Rickydene Alexander has completed a Train-the-Trainer Swimming Course hosted by the Michael Phelps Foundation in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

Alexander took part in a three-day training workshop from November 15 – 17. The workshop provided training on How to Coach athletes with Intellectual Disabilities.

According to Sezevra Joseph, National Director, this training was timely and very important for the development of the Special Olympics St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Swimming Programme. The first Swimming Clinic for Special Olympics Athletes and Coaches will take place early in January when Alexander will impart his newly acquired skills and knowledge.

The organization is currently recruiting athletes and coaches for its National Programme.

The final event for the year will be a Bocce Competition, which will take place today, Friday, November 22, at the Victoria Park, beginning at 9:00 am.

Training for all sports, played by the athletes of Special Olympics St Vincent and the Grenadines, Bocce, Football (traditional and Unifiedsports®)Floorball, Swimming, Tennis and Track & Field will resume on January 6, 2020.
