GHS, SVGS retain secondary schools TT team titles

The Girls’ High School (GHS) and the St Vincent Grammar School (SVGS), remained holders of the team champions, when the schools’ Table Tennis championships concluded on Tuesday at the Old Kingstown Anglican School.

In retaining the crown for females, the GHS trio of Leah Cumberbatch, Karissa Moses and Kiarra Hazell outplayed their opponents from the Bequia Community High School, 3-1.

Cumberbatch beat twin sisters Derecia Michael 11-3, 11-7 and Delecia Michael, 11-6, 4-11, 11-7, while Karissa Moses outdid Javisha Bentick, 11-9, 11-9.

Delecia Michael registered the Bequia Community High’s lone win, beating Kiarra Hazell 11-6, 11-2.

But the St Vincent Grammar School was more clinical when they met first-time entrants, the St Joseph’s Convent, Marriaqua, 3-0.

For the SVGS, Michel Creese defeated Tyion Burgin 11-6, 11-3, Akeil De Roche beat Rio Connell 11-3, 11-3 and Antwan Tannis outlasted Che’ Connell 11-9, 11-7.
