George Stephens Secondary hold champions GSS at bay

The George Stephens Senior Secondary were able to hold defending senior division champions, the Georgetown Secondary School, to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday, in the SVGFF Inter-Secondary School Football Tournament.

They opened the scoring at the Chilli Playing Field, in the 15th minute through Lester Clarke. Terranson Joseph then equalized for the Gladiators in the 35th.

The juniors also played to a draw, with 2 goals from George Stephens’ Devon Fisher, and a goal each from Kelique Williams and Kevon Clarke.

Two goals from Odey Cupid gave the West St. George Secondary a 2-0 win over the Mountain View S.D.A. Academy in a junior division match at the Stubbs Playing Field. In the Seniors, the St. Clair Dacon Secondary had an easy three points, due to a no-show by the Campden Park Technical Institute.

The juniors of the Bethel High School beat Buccament Bay Secondary 2-0, with both goals coming from Imani Miller, while 2 goals each from Denelson Lewis and Keanu Robinson secured a 4-1 win for the seniors. BBSS’ goal was scored by Jomol Billingy.

The Warriors of Central Leeward won both their matches against the Petit Bordel Secondary. The juniors game ended 4-0, as Rahu Benjamin and Kimal Barbour scored one goal each, and Oryan Velox did a double. Then 2 goals from Ezra Fraser and one from Shamol Reid were more than enough for the senior team to win 3-1. The consolation goal for PBSS came from Dilson Edwards.

A 35th minute goal from Ronaldo Kydd was all that was on the scorecard, as J. P. Eustace Memorial beat Troumaca Ontario in their junior match. The senior game ended prematurely, when a fight ensued, six minutes before the end of regulation. Troumaca had a 1-0 advantage, courtesy a De’Andre Dowling goal.
