Inter-Secondary Schools football tournament kicks off

The Inter-Secondary Schools football tournament kicked off in earnest on Wednesday at several venues. At the Chilli Playing Field, Georgetown Secondary and Mountain View Adventist played to a 2-2 draw. Symeon Joseph and Kevorne Clarke scored for Georgetown, while Stevan Pierre netted two for Mountain View.

At Sion Hill, one goal from Ryan Ellis wasn’t enough to save the juniors of the Intermediates High School from a 2-1 defeat to the Bishop’s College Kingstown (BCK). Troy Peters and Vinus Bowens scored for BCK. In the senior game, Bishop’s College was again in winner’s row beating Intermediate 4-1. A hat-trick from Kyle Qushie and one goal from Michael Smith did it for Bishop’s College, while Intermediate High’s Roland Cadougan found the net.

St. Martin’s Secondary enjoyed 1-0 wins in both divisions at Richmond Hill, against the St. Vincent Grammar School. Kishawn Alexander scored for the juniors, and Andros Dennie, for the seniors.

The Central Leeward Secondary juniors beat J. P. Eustace Memorial, with three goals from Oryan Velox. The senior game saw Central Leeward scoring eight, with Trivis Fraser scoring four, and one goal each from Shamal Ried, Mekyal Williams and Jamary Davis. The Warriors also benefitted from an own goal.

Buccament Bay and Troumaca Ontario played to a stalemate in the juniors, and a 6-0 win in the senior division for Troumaca. Jahiem Pompey, Keshawn Charles and De’Andre Dowlings all scored two goals each.

The Bethel High School and Petit Bordel Secondary met at the Golden Grove Playing Field, where Petit Bordel won the junior game, 4-3.

Emory Edwards found the net twice, Zalpheus Medica scored once, and there was an own goal from Bethel. The scorers for Bethel were Will Daniel, Zimron Hunte and Imani Miller. One goal each for Dwelson Lewis of Bethel, and Gavin Brown of Petit Bordel, saw the senior game end in a draw.
