2019 SVGCC Inter- faculty football competition concludes

The 2019 French Verandah SVG Community College inter-faculty football competition ended last Friday at the Sion Hill Playing Field.

When the final whistle blew, Year Two Sciences and Business Studies and Year One Engineering, left the venue as champions.

Year Two Sciences and Business Studies’ crowning, came when they overcame Year One Arts, Sciences and General Studies, 2-1, in the final of the Division of Arts, Sciences and General Studies.

Year One Arts, Sciences and General Studies went ahead in the 20th minute through Danlee Sutherland.

But three minutes later, Joel Jack brought parity for Year Two Sciences and Business Studies.

Then Jaquan Francis struck the winner in the 55th minute.

Meanwhile, in the final of the Division of Technical and Vocational Education, Year One Engineering outdid Year Two Engineering 4-2 on penalties kicks, after both teams ended regulation time, 1-1.

Zadaan Simmons placed Year Two Engineering in the ascendancy in the 13th minute, before Randolph Richards scored the equaliser in the 28th minute for Year One Engineering.

Year One Engineering, though, was better in the decisive spot kicks.

Next up for the footballers from that tertiary institution, is the inter-divisional competition, which begins this Wednesday, also at the Sion Hill Playing Field.
