Petey’s sports academy set for November launch

Former St Vincent and the Grenadines, Windwards and West Indies fast bowler Kenroy Peters, will launch the Petey’s Sports Academy in November.

The official launch is slated for November 16.

“The idea behind the academy is to have children playing sports again, hence I am trying to develop a community where you have a strong group of children,” Peters told SEARCHLIGHT.

Set for operation every Saturday, Peters noted that the academy will be streamlined similar to the school term.

“The academy will be for three terms …. We are going to have three groups, 4 to 6, who will be engaged in the development of motor skills, those 7 to 9 years involved in multi-sports and 10 to 13-year-olds, who will be dealing with specific sports,” Peters expounded.

“We want the children to get away from the screens and get involved in sports again,” he added.

Peters, in addressing the notion that sports takes away from academics proffered, “The more exercise and activities they have, in an environment where they have fun, they will get fitter and most of all, they understand how to deal with pressure”.

Peters underscored that the academy will be holistic, as other life skills, as well as areas of personal development, will be taught.

Persons wishing to sign up for the Petey’s Academy can do so on his Facebook page.
