Having been part of an OECS unit for many years, St Vincent and the Grenadines men’s squash team, this year, as a single unit, placed fifth at the XXVI Caribbean Area Squash Associations ( CASA) championships, which ended last Saturday in Guyana.

The Vincentians were beaten by Barbados and Jamaica by 4-1 margins.

In the play-off against Trinidad and Tobago for the fifth spot, St Vincent and the Grenadines won 3-1. Thus, St Vincent and the Grenadines finished above Trinidad and Tobago and the British Virgin Islands.

Contesting the singles, Snagg, Bailey and Doyle, got to the round of 16.

Snagg, after ousting Mark Sealey of Barbados, 11-8, 11-8, 11-7, in the round of 32, lost to Cameron Stafford of Cayman Islands 8-11, 2-11, 11-7, 3-11.

Likewise Bailey, in the round of 32, defeated Zachary Loquan of Trinidad and Tobago, 11-6, 11-6, 11-6, but went under to Joe Chapman of the BVI, 4-11, 4-11, 1-11, in the round of 16.

The tale was the same for Doyle, who lost out to Chayse Mc Quan of T & T, 9-11, 3-11, 10-12, in the round of 16.

Doyle got to the round of 16 by beating Dion Anselm of the BVI, 12-10, 11-3, 11-1 in the round of 32.

The trio though got seedings in the top 16.

Also, Mikal Quashie of St Vincent and the Grenadines was beaten by Jake Kelly of the Cayman Islands in the round of 32, as he lost 9-11, 4-11, 7-11.

Quashie went on the reach the semi-finals of the consolation, only to lose out to Trinidadian Brandon De Montrichard 11-8, 11-9, 11-4.

In the doubles, Hannaway and Doyle suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tahija Lumley and Julian Morrison of Jamaica, 11-6, 10-11, 11-3.

Bailey teamed up with Amber Glasgow in the mixed doubles. But the Vincentian pair suffered a straight sets loss to Larissa Wiltshire and Nyron Joseph, 11-6, 11-5.
