Kimani Melius takes CWI Under-19 top batsman award

 Windward Islands’ captain Kimani Melius copped the award for most runs in 2019 Cricket West Indies (CWI) Under-19 cricket tournament, which ended here in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Melius scored 101 runs, with a highest score of 59. 

Joining Melius on the honours list was Rivaldo Clarke of Barbados, who was the best wicketkeeper. Clarke had 12 dismissals.

Clarke’s fellow Barbadian Matthew Forde copped two awards.

Forde had the most wickets, as he captured 11 scalps.  Forde also copped the award of the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

 Melius, Clarke and Forde, were among 24 players who were selected to engage in play-off matches here, to select the West Indies team for the ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa in January.

Apart from Melius, the other Windward Islands player selected was Teddy Bishop, while Clarke and Forde have other countrymen Antonio Morris, Che Simmons, Ramon Simmons and Nyeem Young selected.

The Guyanese in the squad are Kelvon Anderson, Sachin Singh, Kelvin Umroa and Asmead Nedd, while Elroy Francis and Zawandi White are from the Leeward Islands.

Making the squad from Jamaica are Daniel Beckford, Kirk Mc Kenzie, Ricardo Mc Intosh and Matthew Comerie.

And, from Trinidad and Tobago are Avinash Mahabirsingh, Jayden Seales, Rivaldo Ramblogan, Leonardo Julien, Joshua James and Mbeki Joseph.
