Chavel Cunningham pouches WIFA MVP award

St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Chavel Cunnigham was the Windward Islands Football Association (WIFA) senior men’s tournament’s leading goal-scorer with four goals. He was also the St Vincent and the Grenadines team’s MVP, and the Tournament’s overall MVP.

Jadiel Chance, also of St Vincent and the Grenadines, received the Urtis Blackette trophy, as the tournament’s best goalkeeper.

Joining Cunningham as the teams’ MVP, were Ackeel Applewaite – Barbados, Briel Thomas – Dominica, Garth Thomas – Grenada and Alvinus Myers – St Lucia.

The tournament, which ended here last Friday was won by St Vincent and the Grenadines, who registered three wins and a draw.

The host drew 1-1 with Grenada. Cunningham scored for St Vincent and the Grenadines, while Oneil Osten netted the equalizer for the Grenada.

In Friday’s first match, Barbados defeated Dominica, 2-nil. The goal-scorers were Shaquille Stewart and Jomo Harris.

Barbados ended second with nine points, gathered from three wins and a loss.

Dominica ended in third place with 4 points (one win, one draw and two losses). Grenada also had 4 points, with one win, one draw and two losses, but was defeated by Dominica.

St Lucia, with one draw versus Dominica, but with three losses, ended in fifth position.
