Quartet sets new national female relay record

The quartet of Annecia Richards, Tamara Woodley, Keiffer Bailey and Odesha John, bettered the St Vincent and the Grenadines females 4 x 400m record, at the recent Gibson/Mc Cook Relays, at the Jamaica National Stadium.

The four won their heat in a time of 3 minutes 48.04 seconds, thus erasing the 3 minutes 48.24 seconds, which stood as the national record in the event.

However, they were unable to replicate or better their efforts in the final, placing sixth.

The former record was achieved at the 2018 Junior Carifta Games held in the Bahamas, with the quartet competing in the females’ Under-20 age group.

Richards, Woodley, along with Shaffiqua Maloney and Zita Vincent, were responsible for establishing that record in the Bahamas.

Vincent was part of the squad that travelled to Jamaica for the event, but did not make the final cut.

St Vincent and the Grenadines will be looking to defend their 4 x 400m female Under -20 title, when the Junior Carifta Games take place in the Cayman Islands over the Easter weekend.
