Gabrielle Benn triple crowns in senior tennis tourney

GABRIELLE BENN ended with three titles under her belt, when the national Open Tennis tournament ended last Saturday at the National Tennis Centre.

Benn added her third title on Saturday, when she teamed up with Arnel Horne to swish Richand Hoyte and Amarlia Benn 6/4, 6/0, 6/0 to take the mixed doubles.

It was Gabrielle’s second doubles title, as she and her twin sister- Amarlia had trumped 6/3, 6/1, over the duo of Michell Gun-Munro, 6/3, 6/1.

Gabrielle went alone in the ladies singles, taking out Nyka Williams in dismissive fashion, 6/1, 6/0 in the final.

Securing two titles in the senior segment of the tournament, were Horne and Hoyte.

Before Saturday’s mixed doubles win for Horne, he and Hoyte had combined to win the men’s doubles, with a 7/5, 6/1 defeat of Akeem Guy and Akeizo Quammie.

Hoyte had a 6/4, 6/0 win at the expense of Josh Mounsey, in trumping the men’s singles.

Hoyte , who also competed in the junior bracket of the tournament, won the male Under-18 singles title.
