Barrouallie retains senior netball title… Sandy Bay cops junior

The Barrouallie Secondary School retained the senior title, with the Sandy Bay Secondary School, taking the junior, when the Ministry of Education schools’ competition held its finals last Tuesday at the Arnos Vale Netball Complex.

Regular winner of the title, Barrouallie made light work of the Sandy Bay Secondary in a one-way traffic.

Most goals – senior division – Zanique Vincent

Barrouallie led in all quarters, winning 11/3, 24/11, 35/15 and finally 45/26.

Chaunte Williams and Zanique Vincent scored 23 and 22 goals, respectively for Barrouallie, with Lorencia Bowens scoring 16 and Trecia John- 10, for the Sandy Bay Secondary.

The Sandy Bay Secondary- junior division champions

Both Vincent and Williams walked off with accolades. Vincent secured the award for scoring the most goals – 67 and Williams was named player of the final.

Prior to the senior final, the Sandy Bay Secondary had claimed the junior title, beating the Troumaca Ontario Secondary, 27 goals to 22.

For Sandy Bay, Shanile Haynes had 19 goals and Ratanique Baptiste – 8 and for the Troumaca Ontario, Denel Creese – 13 and Sarricia Hooper – 9.

Creese collected double awards of most goals – 51 and player of the final.

The Girls’ High School was third in the senior division and in the juniors, the Bethel High School docked third.
