Missed centuries feature in Greiggs softball cricket weekend

Roderick John stroked 98 not out and Erwin Williams, 96, in the Hairoun/ FLOW/ Sea Operations Nar Fen Dem men’s 20/20 softball cricket competition for CGM Gallagher Novice, last Sunday and Saturday, respectively at the Greiggs Central Playing Field.

John’s innings helped Novice to 145 for 5 from their 15 overs, as the match was reduced because of rain.

Bowling for Moznet Strikers, Drake Matthews took 2 for 36.

Moznet Strikers replied with 90 for 6 wickets in their 15 overs. Danny Baptiste scored 21.

Casmond Walters took 2 for 11 and Newborne Joseph, 2 for 16, as Novice won by 55 runs.

Meanwhile on Saturday, Williams stroked 96 for Sion Hill Tallawahs versus Challengers.

Williams’ knock, and Parris Lavia’s 33, saw Sion Hill Tallawahs to 186 for 8 from their 17 overs, as the match was reduced because of a late commencement.

Kerwyn Browne took 2 for 31, Dorian Dallaway, 2 for 35, and Kimon John, 2 for 4, bowling for Challengers.

At their turn, Challengers managed 96 from their 17 overs. Britnol Scott topscored with 32.

Erwin Williams had 3 for 8 and Trevin Baptiste took 2 for 4 for Sion Hill Tallawahs.

Also on Saturday, Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem won by default from Caesar’s Defenders.

In winner’s row on the weekend was Israel Bruce Smashers Inc., who beat Rasfarco by 77 runs on Sunday.

Smashers Inc. batted first and made 136 for 9 in their 20 overs. Keno Matthews topscored with 66.

Ajit Duncan took 2 for 7, Sobarto Joseph, 2 for 23, and Kimron Baptiste, 2 for 32, bowling for Rasfarco.

In response, Rasfarco scored 59 all out from 14.1 overs. Rasfarco was undone by the bowling of Anthony John, who took 4 for 9 and St Clair Dickson’s 4 for 11.

Sunday’s other scheduled match between Log Enterprise Supreme Strikers and Caesar’s Defenders was rained out and will be rescheduled.
