Schools’ table tennis tournament serves off

The St Vincent Grammar School Team Two made a winning start to the 2018 secondary schools’ table tennis tournament, beating the Thomas Saunders Secondary 3-0 at the Grammar School’s hall last Friday afternoon.

The Grammar School’s trio of Mirac Creese, Joshua Joseph and Juwan Howard, all blanked their opponents by three sets to luv.

 Creese defeated Akiva Franklyn 12-10, 11-3, 11-9, Joseph whipped defeated Renson Sayers 11-9, 11-4, 11-7 and Howard had an 11-6, 11-1, 11-2 triumph over Rasheed Wallace.

Both teams are in Group Two, along with Georgetown Secondary Two, West St George and Adelphi and Emmanuel High School combined.
Group One is composed of the St Vincent Grammar School One, Georgetown Secondary One, Petit Bordel Secondary and Troumaca Secondary.

Six schools are in the female category. In Group One are Petit Bordel, Troumaca and Adelphi, with the Girls’ High School, Thomas Saunders and St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown, making up Group Two.

The St Vincent Grammar School is the defending male division team champion, with Caleb Howard of the St Vincent Grammar School, the defending male singles champion.

Julia Nichols, of the Bequia Community High won the female singles in 2017.
