Gomea Bombers dismantle Novice in TBPO softball cricket

Gomea Bombers put a dent in CGM Gallagher Novice’s title defence of the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation’s 20/20 softball cricket competition, on Sunday at the Dauphine Playing Field.

Novice’s total of 135 for 8 from 20 overs, had Casmond Walters making 45 and Elton Williams, 33.

Alawayne Quashie, who took 3 for 13 and Ovando O’ Brien, 2 for 25, were the pick of the Gomea Bombers’ bowling.

O’ Brien stroked 38 not out, Terrance Patterson, 35 and Omar Woods, 32, to guide Gomea Bombers to 138 for 8 from 18.5 overs, and victory by two wickets.

In between, Casmond Walters had taken 3 for 14 and Vernardo Primus, 3 for 20.

Sharing the same feeling of triumph with Gomea Bombers on Sunday, were Sunset Strikers and Gairy’s Construction Simple Boyz.

Sunset Strikers registered a 63-runs win over CDC/Lotto.

Sunset Strikers batted first and made 123 all out from 15.4 overs. Anthonel Palmer scored 45 and Zane Greaves, 35.

Bowling for CDC/Lotto, Ashley Frederick took 3 for 12, Victor Alexis, 3 for 28, and Minfe Jack, 2 for 40.

CDC/Lotto crumbled for 60 in 14 overs, as Errol Cato, with 4 for 19, Carlton Baptiste, 2 for 9 and Anthonel Palmer, 2 for 18, concocted their demise.

Also on Sunday, Gairy’s Construction Simple Boyz stopped Sion Hill Tallawahs by nine wickets.

Bowling for Simple Boyz, Calbert Simon took 4 for 11 and Osbourne Franklyn, 2 for 34.

Simple Boys responded with 86 for 1 from 12.3 overs. Desron Maloney scored 29 and Stein Joseph, 27 not out.

Two matches on Saturday got the weekend’s action going.

 RSVG Police defeated Mac Dauphine by 12 runs.

Police scored 103 all out in 13.1 overs. Renrick Cato made 28 and Gareth Henry, 25.

Bowling for Dauphine United, Andre woods took 2 for 35.

In reply, Dauphine United reached 91 for 5 in their 17 overs, as the match was reduced because of a late start.

Mondale Questelles, led Dauphine United’s response with 23, while Osrick James had 2 for 11, bowling for RSVG Police.

Match number two, also a 17-over affair, saw Older Boys trumping by 10 wickets over Combine Rangers.

Orville Franklyn, who stroked 61 not out and Trevor Charles, 26 not out, plotted Older Boys’ response of 118 without loss from 12 overs.

Older Boys were set the target, after Combine Rangers had posted 113 for 6 from their 17 overs.

Arnoldo Fisher, 29 and Kimmroy Harry, 21, were the main contributors, while Rohan King had picked off 3 for 13 and Nathaniel Adams, 2 for 24, bowling for Older Boys.
