Big names win in Bequia 20/20

Knights Trading Aussies and Sugar Reef Bequia United won matches on Sunday at the Clive Tannis Playing Field in Bequia, in the Hairoun Bequia 20/20 cricket competition.

Aussies beat Port Elizabeth by six wickets, and Bequia United hammered Friendship United by 83 runs.

Port Elizabeth made 118 for 8 from their 20 overs, with Olanzo Billingy scoring 40, and Shurman Billingy, 24.

Bowling for the Aussies, Razine Browne took 2 for 19, Shem Browne, 2 for 22, and Meshack Williams, 2 for 24.

In reply, the Aussies reached 119 for 4 from 10 overs. Oswald Soleyn scored 36, Marcus Hackshaw, 27 not out and Razine Browne, 25 not out.

Ormond Billingy had 2/33, bowling for Port Elizabeth.

And, defending champions Sugar Reef Bequia United was commanding as usual against Friendship United.

Rickford Walker belted 9 sixes and 3 fours in his 75, Cosmos Hackshaw hammered 5 fours and 4 sixes in 54, and Jenson Ollivierre contributed 34, as Bequia United rushed to 214 for 6 from their 20 overs.

Garfield Sargeant was the pick of Friendship United’s bowling, taking 4 for 37.

When Friendship United batted, they were restricted to 131 for 9 from their 20 overs. James Hoyte topscored with 28, while Glendell Gregg snared 4 for 28, bowling for Sugar Reef Bequia United.
The competition will move into the semi-finals this weekend.
