Vincy teams to host Jamaica Under-23s

The senior and Under-20 football teams of St Vincent and the Grenadines will face off against a Jamaica Under-23 squad in two friendly encounters here on home soil on the weekend, August 24-26.

First, on Friday, August 24, the Under-20 outfit will meet Jamaica at the Victoria Park. This match will be followed by an encounter featuring past and present members of the Avenues Football Club, currently celebrating its 50th (Golden) anniversary.

Two days later, August 26, the action shifts to the Chili Playing Field in Georgetown where the senior Vincentian team takes on the Jamaica Under-23s.

The two-day football encounter is a joint undertaking of the Awesome Sports International and the Avenues Football Club, under the blessing of the SVG Football Federation which aided in getting the Jamaican squad to come to St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The matches involving the two national teams will serve as much-needed preparation for regional and national assignments.

The senior Vincentian national team is preparing for the inaugural Nations League in which St Vincent and the Grenadines will host Nicaragua on September 8. In the case of the Under- 20s, they are getting ready for the CONCACAF round of the 2019 World Cup qualifiers, set for Florida, USA, in November of this year.
