Police Two, Team Rivals renew rivalry in T/20 final

Police Two and Team Rivals will, for the second time in just over a month, battle for national cricket honours.

The two will square off this Saturday from 2 p.m. at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field in the final of the National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams 20/20 competition.

They earned the right to Saturday’s final, after securing wins, last Saturday, over their opponents in the semi-finals.

Police Two advanced to the final, following a 45-runs win over Keegan’s Bequia XI at Arnos Vale Two.

Led by a boundary-filled knock of 101 not out from Rickford Walker, in which he bludgeoned 10 sixes and 4 fours, Police Two posted 180 for 6 from their maximum 20 overs.

Walker brought up his century, his second in this year’s competition, with a six off the final ball of his team’s innings.

Desron Maloney contributed 22, while Braxie Browne snared 3 for 17, while Meshack Williams picked off 2 for 23, bowling for Bequia XI.

In reply, Bequia XI made 135 for 6 from their 20 overs. Shem Browne topscored with 34.

Kesrick Williams was the pick of Police Two’s bowling, grabbing 4 for 21.

And, at the Sion Hill Playing Field, Team Rivals outclassed French Verandah RW Sporting World SVG Community College by six wickets.

Dillon Douglas’ 57 was the bright spark in Community College’s total of 109 for 8 from their allotted 20 overs. Winsbert Springer took 3 for 16, to be Team Rivals’ most successful bowler.

Team Rivals responded with 110 for 4 from 12.4 overs. Renrick Williams led with 54 and Casmond Walters struck 24, to set up another face-off with Police Two.

When the two met last month in the final of the inaugural national cricket championships, Police Two came out winners by 17 runs.
