GSS males win fourth straight volleyball title

The Georgetown Secondary School (GSS) made it four in a row, when they took the male division of the schools’ volleyball championships, last Monday at the Girls’ High School hard court.

The males were emulating a similar achievement of the females, as they had triumphed from 2013 to 2017.

Taking on the St Vincent Grammar School, which was participating in the tournament for second time, the GSS males had to dig deep to ward off the first time finalists. GSS, though, won 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-14).

GSS’ Enrico Lorraine was adjudged MVP of the final.

The win ensured that only schools located in the North East belt of the mainland have been able to win the male division. The other was George Stephens Senior Secondary, winners in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Earning this year’s third place were the 2017 runners-up West St George Secondary, as they had a 25-9, 25-19 win over the Bethel High School.

West St George Secondary were beaten by the Georgetown Secondary in the semis; likewise Bethel Secondary lost to the St Vincent Grammar School.
