GHS win volleyball title at last

It took Girls’ High School four attempts to finally secure the schools’ volleyball title, when they defeated the West St George Secondary in straight sets last Monday in the final.

And, there was no better place to achieve their maiden title than on home territory – at the Girls’ High School hard court, trumping 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-17)

GHS previously had three visits to the final, but had to be runners-up to the Georgetown Secondary on each occasion.

Mapping out their own pathway to the title, GHS, when matched up against the Georgetown Secondary School in the semi-finals, ousted the four-time champions.

West St George Secondary, on the other hand, got past the Thomas Saunders Secondary, to make it to their first final.

Ensuring that they were in the medal count, Georgetown Secondary bettered Thomas Saunders Secondary in the third place play-off, which was held just prior to the final.

Georgetown Secondary took the bronze, beating their opponents 25-22, 25-13, in the best of three.

Holly Ann George of the Girls’ High School won the award of MVP of the final.
