Blue Marlins girls give good account at BASA Long Course National Championships

The two lone swimmers representing the Blue Marlins Swim Club reaped more success at the recently held Barbados Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) Long Course National Championships in Barbados from February 28 – March 4.

The female duo of Kennice Greene and Zariel Nelson in the 9 – 10 age group, are now regionally popular and favourite names, as they are repeatedly in the final heats and eventual medal podiums of the various swim meets.

Kennice Greene copped four podium appearances with a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke and three bronze in the 200 IM, 50 back and 100 breast strokes respectively. Further, she was able to perform seven personal best times from her 10 events.

Zariel Nelson achieved a silver medal in the 50m freestyle and a bronze medal in the 50 breaststroke, while accomplishing four personal best times from her nine events.

The club next has its sights on the highly competitive Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre (RHAC) Invitational in St Lucia, from April 5 – 8, 2018. The club would be fielding a much larger squad and would surely be in line for several podium-worthy finishes.
