SVGTT team in Cuba for CAC qualifiers

A six-member contingent, composed of four table tennis players and two officials, are in Cuba representing St Vincent and the Grenadines at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) games qualifiers.

The players making the trip are Carlton Daniel (captain), Damion Dublin, Kavir Gaymes and Romano Spencer, with Montgomery Howard the manager and Joseph Carrington, coach.

The Vincentians will pit their skills against the likes of Barbados, Belize, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico and Venezuela, seeking to be part of the CAC games, set for Colombia, July 19 to August 3, this year.

When St Vincent and the Grenadines last competed in qualifiers in El Salvador, 2014, the team of Damion Dublin, Kamal Hunte and Deighton King advanced to the CAC games, which were held in Vera Cruz, Mexico, in November of that same year.

St Vincent and the Grenadines placed sixth among 12 teams, defeating Guyana and St Kitts and Nevis, but lost to Trinidad and Tobago in the group stage.

The SVG team of Dublin, Hunte and King, reached the quarter-finals, but was defeated by Jamaica.
