Andrew Mapp sweeps three records at SMS track meet


Andrew Mapp claimed three records in the junior division of the St Martin’s Secondary School’s track meet history last Thursday at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

Mapp revived the best times in the 100m, 200m and 400m.

He clocked 11.77 seconds in the 100m; 23.97 seconds in the 200m and 56.15 seconds in the 400m.

In total, Mapp, of Brother Roberts House, compiled 33 points, to be crowned junior champion and victor ludorum.

Also reset were the junior 4 x100m and 4 x 200m, with Mapp playing a role in his team’s record breaking performances.

Oswin Richards of Tim Daisley House was the intermediate champion on 31 points and Truloni Mc Kenzie of Justin House, with 24 points, was the senior champion.

But it was Verbeke House on 554 points that were crowned the overall champions, with Brother Roberts House second on 527 points.

Placing third were Justin House with 503 points and Tim Daisley house were fourth on 434 points.

The St Martin’s Secondary and the St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown held a joint athletics championships.
