GTC to hit the court running this Saturday

The Grassroot Tennis Club (GTC) will recommence its training programme this Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m., at the Grand View courts at Villa.

But it will be a first-come first-serve basis, as space is limited and only 10 players can be accommodated in the three age groups – Under-6, Under-10 and Under-12.

Head of the GTC Grant Connell, in ushering the new era of the club, said that he is excited to have the youngsters given the outlet to learn the sport of tennis.

“We are back and running for some time, but we are now adding the full coaching component, picking up where we left off; but we can only accommodate a limited number, granted we only have the one court,” Connell noted.

“As usual, the GTC’s competent coaches will be in attendance and the young players are assured the high quality coaching in the rudiments of the sport,” the GTC head stated with confidence.

He revealed that the entry forms are available at his law chambers, located in the Building and Loan Association’s building.

The GTC first began operations in February 2010 at the Haddon Hotel courts at Murray’s Road.

However, the owners of the facility required if for their use; hence the GTC vacated the premises at the end of August 2016.

Since moving to the Grand View facility last year, the GTC has put on a few tournaments and has used its brand to carry out some charity events.
