Futsal tournament to warm up football National Club Championships

A Futsal competition will be the “warm-up” for the the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) National Club Championships, as pronounced by the organization’s head, Venold Coombs.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the FLOW Ultimate Football Experience at the Campden Park Playing Field recently, Coombs indicated that a futsal club competition will be the next agenda item.

“The futsal tournament is going to start before the club championships … It is just a warm up… I think by the end of the month here (February), we suppose to start,” Coombs revealed.

Coombs’ revelation means that the National Clubs Championships, which in the last two years has kicked off in January and February, respectively, will start thereafter.

The local football boss also used the platform to reinforce his organization’s input in readying teams and clubs, by assuring them the $1,500 assistance will once again be in place.

Additionally, Coombs reaffirmed that the SVGFF will commence the remuneration of those coaches who possess a D licence and are in charge of clubs teams.

The SVGFF president noted that another step will be taken in the not too distant future.

“Very soon, every single Premier Division club going to have a coach with a C licence,” Coombs announced.

During 2017, apart from hosting the National Club Championships, the SVGFF completed the National Inter–community League competition, held over from the previous year and staged another from September to December.

However, the latter has some unfinished business, as the age group competitions are yet to be decided.

The SVGFF, in September of last year, staged the inaugural futsal tournament, which was played among the some of the affiliated leagues.
