Year Two DASGS Pacers make winning start

Year Two Division of Arts Science and General Studies (DASGS) Pacers handed defending champions Year One Division of Arts Science and General Studies (DASGS) Shooters a defeat, when the 2018 Quickcash Corp. St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College’s Inter-divisional Basketball Competition got started last Friday at the Villa campus courts.

The stage was set for an interesting showdown in the opening salvo, as both units were level on 10 points each at the end of the first quarter.

Year One Shooters got in gear in the second quarter, to lead 26-16 at the halfway mark.

But this lead was short-lived, as the Pacers revved up their engines to take a slender 35-34 lead at the sound of the whistle to end the third quarter.

Pacers held off whatever was offered from the defending champions in the last quarter, to trump 43-39.

The multi-talented Marcus Thomas led the Year Two unit with a game high of 24 points, while another player with diverse sporting abilities, Lemus Christopher, scored 12 points for Year One Shooters.

However, the excitement was subdued in the other two encounters.

Match two, which featured teams from the Technical and Vocational Education (TVE) divisions, saw Year One TVE Hornets defeating Year Two DTVE Ballers 36-15.

Aaron Bacchus with 14 points and Leymahrr Campbell, 12 points, were the lead scorers for Year One TVE Hornets.

Then there was the battle between the new entrants Just Graduated Combined and Blue Chip Basketball Academy.

When the match ended, it was Just Graduated Combined who came out victors, 56-30.

Sachin James powered his way to 32 points and Lennox Ince added 14 points for Just Graduated Combined.

Jaheim Campbell led the way for Blue Chip Academy with 15 points.
