SVGSF to host three major competitions in 2018

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Swimming Federation (SVGSF) has listed three major swim competitions to be hosted at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre during 2018.

Getting off first will be the CGM Invitational Swimming Championships, which will be staged February 16 to 18.

This event is being sponsored by CGM Gallagher Insurance Brokers.

Also slated is the FLOW Invitational Swimming Championships, which are dated for August 17-19.

This event will serve as a time trial for the OECS Championships that come off in Antigua and Barbuda in November.

The trilogy is completed by the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre (SAC) Sprint Challenge, which is tentatively scheduled for October 5 and 6.

These three championships will see the usual participation of competitors within the Caribbean region, namely Trinidad and Tobago, St Lucia, Grenada and Barbados.

Also carded for 2018, locally, are two open water events in Bequia and at the Villa beach, in March and October, respectively.

Apart from the local hosting of swim events, the SVGSF will be sending teams to contest the Carifta championships in Jamaica in March, the Commonwealth Games in Australia in April, as well as participation in the Central American and Caribbean Games in Colombia in July/August and the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Federation in Aruba in June.

The Youth Olympics are set for in Argentina in early October, with the World Championships taking place in China in December, and SVG should be at these events competing.

And, the local swim clubs, as customary, will head out to the various club championships events in Barbados, St Lucia, Trinidad, as well as in Tobago.
