Sion Hill community organizations show appreciation to residents

A joint undertaking by the Sion Hill Sports Club, the Friends of Sion Hill USA, along with the Sion Hill Steel Orchestra, realized the donation of 150 bags of food items to persons in the Sion Hill community.

The initiative, which was started in 2013 by the Sion Hill Sports Club, has since had the input and blessings of the other organizations.

President of the Sion Hill Sports Club Earl Bennett expounded satisfaction that his organization’s efforts and that of the other partners are appreciated.

“It is out of love and a sense of duty to the less fortunate and elderly in our beloved community that we decided to get involved in the Christmas gift bags programme,” Bennett acknowledged.

“Over the years, we are satisfied with the positive response impact the venture has had on the beneficiaries and we are committed to continue the programme and even make it bigger, to accommodate more of our residents,” Bennett stated.

Having endorsed the programme and provided their input, Friends Of Sion Hill USA president Oxley Lowmans also gave his take on the programme.

“ …Looking at the smiles on the recipients faces brought joy to many of our members…Our aim is to let these people know that they are appreciated by citizens in the community and abroad….We want them to know that others care about them and as we go further into the year 2018, we thank all our supporters,” Lowmans said.

He reinforced that the Friends of Sion Hill’s input is in keeping with its motto: “Rebuilding a community…One life at a time.”

Lowmans, like Bennett, projected that at the 2018 venture, the number of bags will increase.(RT)
