Outstanding performers in 2017 Schools’ Football awarded

When the Ministry of Education, National Reconciliation, Ecclesiastical Affairs and Information completed its 2017 football tournament, it ensured that the standouts were named and rewarded.

Recognized at the ceremony at the Victoria Park, following the finals of the three divisions, there were individual awards for Best Goalkeeper, Most Goals and Player of the Final.

Capturing the award for best goalkeeper in the primary schools’ division was Barrouallie Government’s Delanzo Duncan.

In the junior category of the secondary schools’ competition, the Barrouallie Secondary’s Gerwin Davis was the recipient and Delano Da Souza of the Georgetown Secondary was the awarded the best goalkeeper in the senior division.

Gaining the award for most goals were Mitchran John of the Georgetown Government; Malik Ferdinand – the St Vincent Grammar School; and Carlos Solomon – the Bethel High School.

John’s 17 goals made him the top goalscorer in the primary schools’ category, while Ferdinand and Solomon both scored seven goals, to cop awards in the junior and senior divisions, respectively, of the secondary division.

Meanwhile, Frankroy Caine of the Barrouallie Government was named player of the final; so too was Jamal Young of the Barrouallie Secondary in the junior division and in the senior division, it was the Georgetown Secondary’s Trezine Da Souza.

Apart from the individual awards, there were trophies presented to the zonal winners of each of three divisions. Each division comprised four zones.(RT)
