Teachers claim Firms and Industrial Netball title

Harmony Investment Teachers beat NBC Radio, the four-time winners of the Firms and Industrial Netball Tournament, by 57 goals to 41, last Monday night at the Kingstown Netball Centre at New Montrose, to claim the 2017 title.

Teachers led in all quarters. They were narrowly ahead 12-11 at the end of the first quarter, 28-23 at the end of the second quarter, 41-31 at the end of the third quarter, closing out the contest at 57-41.

The Teachers’ shooting statistics showed Nicole Stevenson scoring 36 and Jessica Lavia – 21, while Skiddy Francis-Crick scored all 41 for NBC Radio 705.

In the third place play-off, which preceded the final, the Ministry of Tourism Sports and Culture had a 43-40 win over BRAGSA Pavers.

The tournament awards went to Kaywana Charles of the Ministry of Education, as the Best Defender; Moeth Gaymes, also of the Ministry of Education, the Best Mid-Court Player.

Kayshorn Lowman and Shadnado Wyllie of the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture were adjudged Best Attacking Player and Most Improved Player, respectively.

NBC Radio 705’s award for Skiddy Francis-Crick got the award for Most Goals for the 251 shots she successfully converted during the tournament.

And, Fireballers was listed as the Most Disciplined Team among the nine teams which sought title honours.

Also participating in the tournament were CK Greaves and Company, the Ministry of Transport and Works Combine, KFC Pacers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.(RT)
